Energy for Alaska

Drilling of what is now the fourth well began several weeks earlier than planned. The current drill-ing depth is already 2,400 feet, with a depth of 9,000 feet to be achieved by the winter break.

Deutsche Oel & Gas (DOGAG), an oil and gas producer operating in Alaska, began drilling its fourth well, KLU#4, in its own Kitchen Lights Unit development region several weeks earlier than planned. This well in the North Block is expected to be one of the deepest in the entire Cook Inlet.

In the second half of 2013, the deeper crude oil-bearing and the overlying natural gas-bearing formations will be extensively tested, in order to be able to accurately determine the size of the reservoirs and the expected daily output.

Right now, the crew of the Spartan 151 drilling platform has reached a depth of 2,400 feet (800 metres). It is expected that a depth of 9,000 feet (around 3,000 metres) will be reached by the winter break.
