Board of Directors

Kay Rieck (Chairman)

Kay Rieck previously worked as an investment banker and stockbroker at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Mr Rieck has 25 years of experience in investment banking and asset management. Since 2007, he has been working in the oil and gas exploration industry in the US. Mr Rieck has been a member of the Board of Directors of Deutsche Oel & Gas S.A. since 6 June 2014.


Bruce Webb

Bruce Webb worked for Furie Operating Alaska LLC, a German oil & gas group company, between 2011 and 2018, during which time he was in charge of regulatory matters.

He has been active in Alaska's oil and gas operations for over 40 years (holding roles at the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas, among others) and, as a result, boasts in-depth knowledge of the local market.

Mr Webb has been a member of the board of directors of Deutsche Oel & Gas S.A. since 17 December 2018.


Thomas Knipp

Thomas Knipp is a qualified journalist and management consultant.

For 25 years, Mr Knipp held positions at prominent national and international publication firms. From 1989 to 1993, he wrote for the business section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. From 1993 to 1999, he reported out of London and New York for the Handelsblatt. Since 1999, he has held various management positions; until 2001, he was deputy editor-in-chief of the Wall Street Journal Europe and from 2001 until 2004, he was editor-in-chief of the Handelsblatt.

From 2004, Mr Knipp built up the German business of an international corporate communications consulting agency, where he was the senior partner and managing director until 2015. He was also a member of the group’s global management board during this period, where he advised his clients on M&A transactions, IPOs, crisis situations and managerial issues.

Mr Knipp has been a member of the Board of Directors of Deutsche Oel & Gas S.A. since 29 June 2017.



Chief Financial Officer

Christoph Mahler

Christoph Mahler looks back on a career spanning more than ten years as a banker at Credit Suisse. He worked in various roles, including as a financial planner and asset manager for the bank in Zurich and Dubai, and headed up its private banking business in the Middle East. Mr Mahler studied law, banking and finance at the University of Zurich and at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.

Mr Mahler was appointed as CFO of the Deutsche Oel & Gas Group on 1 July 2017.
