Energy for Alaska

The Department of Natural Resources wants the wells to become a “success story”.

Deutsche Oel & Gas – via its U.S. subsidiary Furie Operating Alaska – and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division Oil and Gas, recently agreed the drilling schedule for the next four years in the Kitchen Lights Unit development region in the Cook Inlet in Alaska.

Production rights were also extended at the same time, for a further term of four years. It is thus already ensured that Deutsche Oel & Gas will be able to take advantage of all production oppor-tunities and subsidies in Alaska until 2016.

William Barron, Director of the Oil and Gas Division, summarises the enormous significance for the entire region of the drilling activities begun by Deutsche Oel & Gas over the past year, as well as the close and successful cooperation with the relevant authorities in the development region: “We will give Furie every possible opportunity to turn the Kitchen Lights Unit development region into a true success story.”

Alaska recently began heavily subsidising the development of further proprietary crude oil and natural gas reserves; firstly, because consumption has increased significantly over the past few years and, secondly, because production in the development region is on the decline.
